Cody J. Brown, a 24-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, was fatally shot on the evening of Friday, August 16, 2013. The incident occurred inside a barber shop located at 39th Street and Baltimore Avenue in the city's midtown area.
According to police reports, two men entered the barber shop at approximately 7:30 p.m. and opened fire. Brown was shot multiple times at close range and died at the scene. A woman who was also inside the shop sustained life-threatening injuries during the attack. Authorities stated that they believed Brown and the woman were the intended targets of the shooting.
Following the shooting, the two suspects fled the location on foot. Police described the suspects as two Black men, but a more detailed description was not immediately available.
