Deandre Antonio Ferguson, a 33-year-old male, was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was known for his resilient spirit and compassionate heart. He graduated from the DYS School in Springfield, Missouri, and went on to work as a Peer Counselor, dedicating himself to supporting others. Known for his infectious laughter and love for music, he enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing jokes, and dancing.
He was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles, Golden State Warriors, and LA Lakers.
On the afternoon of August 11, 2025, tragedy struck in North Kansas City, Missouri. At approximately 2:57 p.m., police responded to numerous 911 calls reporting a shooting and a subsequent car crash near Armour Road and Missouri Route 210. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a shooting had indeed occurred. Deandre Ferguson was found at the scene and was quickly transported to a local hospital for his injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation into the homicide was swift. The Metro Squad, a team of investigators from various metropolitan agencies, was convened to follow up on several leads. A suspect was identified by police and was reported to have been last seen leaving the North Kansas City area.
The day after the incident, an arrest was made in Mobile, Alabama. Ray Von McCall, a 37-year-old man, was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. He was subsequently charged with second-degree homicide, armed criminal action, and shooting a firearm at or from a motor vehicle causing injury or death. McCall was held in Alabama pending extradition to Missouri to face the charges against him.
