Adrian Wells, a 21-year-old male from Dallas, Texas, tragically died on May 3, 2019, from a gunshot wound. The incident occurred at his apartment on Coit Road in North Dallas. According to police reports, Adrian was lured outside his apartment by Sydnee Whitaker, an 18-year-old woman who promised him sex. Once outside, three armed men forced Adrian back into his apartment and demanded cash from him and his friends. During the robbery, a shootout ensued, and Adrian was fatally shot.
One of his friends was also shot and taken to a local hospital.
Following the incident, Sydnee Whitaker was arrested and charged with capital murder. She allegedly participated in the home invasion robbery that led to Adrian's death. Whitaker, along with two other suspects, Tyrone Williams and Jaroy Rogers , were charged with murder. Rogers also faced additional charges of theft, engaging in organized crime, and drug possession. All three suspects were held in Dallas County Jail, with bail set at $500,000 for Whitaker and Williams, and $607,500 for Rogers.
The investigation revealed that Whitaker had just met Adrian the day before his death and had been in constant communication with him leading up to the incident. She texted him on the day of the shooting, expressing her desire to perform a sexual act, and called him to confirm her intentions. Witnesses reported seeing a woman with a facial tattoo running from the area after the gunshots were heard. Whitaker later contacted the police claiming she had information about Adrian's death but failed to show up for an interview.
