In the early hours of May 26, 2026, a party at a short-term rental in West Dallas turned into a scene of tragedy, claiming the life of 20-year-old Jaiclyn Scott and two others. The gathering, attended by a large number of people, was shattered by gunfire shortly after midnight at a residence on Vilbig Road. When Dallas police responded to the call, they discovered a chaotic scene with four individuals having been shot.
Jaiclyn Scott was one of the victims who tragically lost their lives as a result of the shooting.
The investigation into the triple homicide quickly pointed to a previous conflict as a potential motive. According to witnesses, a group of uninvited individuals, including the suspect, arrived at the party and an argument ensued. The altercation, which reportedly involved drawn firearms, escalated, leading to the fatal shooting. The other deceased victims were identified as 19-year-old Journie Griffin and 24-year-old Jaiden Cooper. A fourth victim was also injured in the shooting but was reported to be in stable condition.
In the days following the shooting, the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force apprehended a suspect in connection with the murders. On June 5, 2026, 18-year-old Tyson McGriff was arrested and subsequently charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Witnesses reportedly identified McGriff as one of the shooters, with some stating they had seen him in an argument with Scott prior to the gunfire. The case against McGriff is currently proceeding through the legal system, and as of now, there have been no reports of a conviction or sentencing.
