On the evening of March 15, 2026, a burst of violence in a far northeast Dallas apartment complex parking lot claimed the lives of two young men. Mardreus Ward, a 21-year-old man, and his companion, 20-year-old Ethan Isiah Dillard, were discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. The discovery was made after Dallas police responded to a call at approximately 9:47 p.m.
in the 12100 block of Audelia Road.
Upon their arrival, officers found both Ward and Dillard unresponsive in the parking lot of The Bentley apartment complex. Despite the immediate response from emergency services, both men were pronounced dead at the scene by Dallas Fire-Rescue. The initial investigation provided few clues as to the motive behind the double homicide, leaving a community in shock and a family grappling with a sudden and tragic loss.
In the days following the shooting, the Dallas County medical examiner's office officially identified both victims. The Dallas Police Department launched a homicide investigation, documented under case number 036948-2026, and appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible. As of late March 2026, the case was still classified as open, with no arrests made and no suspects publicly identified. The investigation into the deaths of Mardreus Ward and Ethan Isiah Dillard remains ongoing.
