Death by Force

On September 30, 2022, 32-year-old Hispanic male Ronnie James Olvera was fatally shot during a domestic disturbance in northeast Dallas, Texas. According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, 33-year-old Derek Taj Harper, who identified himself as Olvera's boyfriend, told Dallas police that Olvera came at him with a knife, prompting him to shoot in self-defense. Harper was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.
