Olvera was born on June 21, 1990, in Denton, Texas, to parents Tom Olvera and Connie Garza Garcia. He was known for his witty and loving personality, which could light up a room. He had a special bond with children and was remembered for his kindness, positive energy, and love for dancing to various types of music. Olvera enjoyed activities such as bowling, indulging in sweet treats, and was considered tech-savvy, appreciating his gadgets. He is survived by his mother, stepfather Danny Garcia, biological father, siblings, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held on October 11, 2022, at Wade Family Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary. The Funeral Mass took place on October 12, 2022, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish in Grand Prairie, Texas. Family and friends remembered Olvera as an outgoing, bubbly, and loving person who touched the lives of many around him.
Following the incident, Harper was taken into custody by Dallas police. He claimed that the shooting was in self-defense, stating that Olvera had approached him with a knife.
