On the evening of Wednesday, November 27, 2013, 30-year-old Jacob L. Hendren was shot to death in the Old Northeast area of Kansas City, Missouri. The incident unfolded after Hendren was dropped off by relatives in a residential neighborhood near the 300 block of Cypress Avenue. He had arrived in the area with family members to run an errand, exiting the vehicle along with another relative while the driver waited nearby.
Shortly after Hendren left the car, the relative who had been driving reported hearing the sound of gunshots. The driver attempted to locate Hendren immediately following the gunfire but was unable to find him. After driving around the neighborhood in a futile search, the relative contacted the Kansas City police for assistance.
