Alexander A. Morgan Jr., a 22-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically died on July 18, 2019, in Austin, Texas. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds at the Rare Apartments located in the 6400 block of Springdale Road. Morgan was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he was declared brain dead three days later.
The investigation revealed that Marcus A. Gibbs, a 32-year-old male, was charged with Morgan's murder.
According to an affidavit, Gibbs' girlfriend, who was also the mother of the victim, witnessed the shooting. Gibbs became upset with Morgan for bringing his drug problems to his mother's house. The argument escalated, and Gibbs shot Morgan multiple times. Gibbs was arrested on July 24, 2019, by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at the Long Branch apartment complex in north Austin.
In addition to Morgan's murder, Gibbs was also wanted for the shooting and killing of his ex-girlfriend, Selena Wall, in Erie, Pennsylvania, from the previous November. The Austin Police Department obtained a murder warrant for Gibbs based on witness statements and evidence collected at the scene.
