Nicholas Lee Coffman, a 21-year-old male from Arlington, Texas, tragically lost his life on August 3, 2019. Coffman and a friend had arranged to meet a potential buyer at Deaver Park to sell a handgun. When they arrived, another car with multiple occupants was already waiting. After a brief conversation, Coffman was directed to the other side of the car, where he was shot in the abdomen by one of the passengers.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Coffman succumbed to his injuries.
The Arlington Police Department has been actively investigating Coffman's murder. In late 2023, new information led detectives to identify 23-year-old Keyon Flynn as a suspect. Flynn, who was already serving a 25-year prison sentence for an unrelated murder, was indicted for Coffman's death by a Tarrant County grand jury in May 2024. Detectives believe Flynn orchestrated the shooting, but have not ruled out the possibility of additional suspects.
Coffman's family has expressed their heart-wrenching pain and their quest for justice. They believe Coffman was set up and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The Arlington Police Department remains committed to solving the case and bringing those responsible to justice.
