On March 5, 2014, a violent incident unfolded in the Northeast area of Kansas City, Missouri, resulting in the death of 32-year-old David E. Krantz. Officers from the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the vicinity of Norledge and White Avenues around 10:30 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Krantz was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Witnesses and initial reports indicated that the shooting occurred near the intersection, after which Krantz fled the immediate scene in an attempt to escape. He managed to run to the 300 block of Wheeling Avenue before collapsing in the backyard of a residence. The homeowner, who recognized Krantz as someone who had grown up in the neighborhood, contacted the authorities.
