Aquarius Tyrone McPhaul, a 17-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on September 10, 2019, in Waco, Texas. McPhaul was a student at the McLennan County Challenge Academy and was well-loved by his family, friends, and community. His body was discovered near Oakwood Cemetery by a Baylor University employee.
The investigation into McPhaul's death led to the arrest of two suspects.
On September 13, 2019, 17-year-old Elijah Jamal Craven was arrested and charged with McPhaul's murder. A second suspect, Daezion Watkins, was also arrested and charged with the murder. Watkins attempted to evade arrest but was captured by Waco police after a brief chase.
