African American Felita A. Davis, a 42-year-old medical assistant and mother of two, was driving her black 2014 Chevrolet Impala on the evening of September 4, 2014, in St. Louis, Missouri. Around 7:30 p.m., she was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 near the East Grand Avenue exit when a light-colored vehicle, described by witnesses as possibly a Pontiac Firebird or Camaro with a loud muffler, pulled alongside her car.
