Earl Anthony-Blair Foster, a 27-year-old African American man from Houston, Texas, tragically lost his life on March 31, 2020. Foster, who was a former University of Houston football player, was killed in a shooting at a gas station in the 2500 block of Almeda-Genoa Road in Houston. The incident occurred after a heated argument inside the gas station escalated into a fistfight, during which one man was left unconscious.
Earl Foster, who was not involved in the altercation, attempted to flee the scene along with another man. However, Xavier Jerome McConico, 23, pulled out a handgun and fired three shots into the parking lot, hitting Foster in the back of the head. Foster succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following the shooting, McConico fled but was later arrested on April 10, 2020, after surveillance video helped identify him as the shooter. McConico admitted to his role in the shooting during questioning. In addition to Foster's murder, McConico was also charged with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Undre Thomas, which occurred earlier in January 2020. McConico was convicted of both murders and sentenced to life in prison in November 2023.
