Payton Holmes, a 31-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on May 1, 2020, in the Jamestown community of Newton County, Texas. The incident occurred at a home on Farm to Market Road 1020 around 10:00 AM. Deputies from the Newton County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene and found Payton Holmes deceased. The initial investigation suggested that the shooting was the result of a long-standing feud between two cousins.
