David W. Dunn, a 59-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on June 20, 2020, in Austin, Texas. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Alexandria Drive, where multiple shots were fired. When the Austin Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Dunn with extensive trauma, including a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of EMS to treat him, Dunn succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 5 a.m.
The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office
conducted an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death. Detectives identified most of the people involved in the incident and recovered video footage from the scene. The incident was described as isolated to the individuals involved.
On July 3, 2020, the Austin Police Department announced the arrest of a juvenile female in connection with Dunn's death. The suspect was initially charged with aggravated assault but the charge was later escalated to murder. According to detectives, after shooting Dunn, the juvenile female got into his vehicle and announced her intention to run him over before doing so. She was taken into custody and held at the Gardner Betts Juvenile Center.
