Carlos Manuel "Big Los" Galvan, an 18-year-old Hispanic male from San Angelo, Texas, tragically passed away on August 1, 2020. Carlos was known for his big heart and love for fishing, music, and spending time with family and friends. He was a 2020 graduate of Premier High School and had plans to attend UTI Technician Training School in Houston.
On the day of his death, Carlos was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach area in an apartment on Koberlin Street.
He was transported to Shannon Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The investigation revealed that Carlos had been in the apartment with another man when the shooting occurred. The suspect, Nathan Blake Gonzalez, 20, claimed he had taken the gun from Carlos and accidentally fired it, unaware that it was loaded. Gonzalez initially lied to the police, claiming he saw a Black man fleeing the apartment, but surveillance footage showed no one running away.
Gonzalez was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and tampering with evidence. He was released on a $30,000 bond but was later indicted on charges related to Carlos's death. The case brought significant attention to the community, highlighting issues of gun safety and the importance of truthful reporting in criminal investigations.
Carlos's death deeply affected his family, friends, and the entire San Angelo community. He is remembered fondly by those who knew him, and his passing has left a lasting impact on all who were close to him.
