Juan Victorio Quintana, a 29-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically passed away on October 24, 2020, in San Angelo, Texas. Quintana was fatally shot in the upper right torso area while walking near the 600 block of East 20th Street. The incident occurred around 5:39 a.m., and Quintana was found lying on his back in a front yard.
Following the shooting, police investigations led to the arrest of Abel Abraham Rueda, a San Angelo man, who was indicted on charges of first-degree
murder. Rueda was identified as the shooter through surveillance videos and witness testimonies. He was arrested on unrelated charges in Howard County and later transferred to Tom Green County Jail. Rueda's girlfriend, Wendy McCluskey, was also implicated in the case and arrested for tampering with evidence.
The case went to trial, and on January 26, 2023, a Tom Green County jury found Abel Rueda guilty of murder. The trial revealed that Rueda and McCluskey were present at a Stripes convenience store shortly before the shooting, and Rueda was seen waiting in a black Cadillac. The jury deliberated for hours before reaching the verdict.
