On December 20, 1981, Arthur "Darrell" Hickman, a 35-year-old Black male, was found shot to death at 118 1/2 West Southern Avenue in Springfield, Ohio. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm, when two emergency phone calls were received about a shooting at that location. Officers arrived at the scene and found Hickman lying in the stairwell with a gunshot wound to the head. Two Black males were seen running from the area at approximately 7:20 pm.
