James M. Williams, 30, a Black man, was shot in the early hours of January 18, 2015, at a home near the 11700 block of Fuller Road in Kansas City, Missouri. Police were called to the address around 4:57 a.m., and when officers arrived they found him suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was rushed from the scene to a hospital, but he didn’t survive.
Inside that same home, a woman was also found wounded by gunfire. She was described as being around 50 years old and was reported to be in serious but stable condition. Investigators were told the violence erupted after an argument, the kind that starts as words and suddenly turns into something no one can take back.
In the confusion after the shots, a suspect ran from the scene on foot and disappeared into the surrounding neighborhood before officers could close in. Authorities appealed for information, hoping someone heard the argument, saw the flight, or noticed something off—a door slamming, hurried footsteps, a figure cutting through the dark.
