On October 15, 2020, Moises Piedra, a 58-year-old Hispanic man, was fatally shot at an apartment complex located at 10101 South Gessner Road in Houston, TX. He was initially transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead the following day. Witnesses reported seeing two black males, one wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a gun, fleeing the scene along with two black females.
Following the incident, Houston Police Department Homicide
Division Detectives M. Barrow and J. Caten conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of two suspects. Sherikah Renee McGee, 19, was charged with murder, while Ariel Shawnta McGee, 17, was charged with aggravated robbery with serious bodily injury and tampering with evidence/fabricating physical evidence. The investigation is ongoing, and HPD is seeking additional information on two black male suspects described as being in their late teens to early 20s.
The case has been brought before the 262nd State District Court for Sherikah McGee and the 338th State District Court for Ariel McGee. The suspects were identified through witness statements and further investigation, which included the description of the getaway vehicle, a white Toyota sedan with paper license plates. The community has been urged to come forward with any additional information to assist in the investigation.
The tragic death of Moises Piedra has led to significant legal proceedings, with the suspects facing serious charges in connection with the shooting. The HPD Homicide Division continues to work diligently to bring all responsible parties to justice and provide closure for the victim's family.
