On June 20, 2021, 27-year-old Selvin Adaly Turcios Pereira, a male of El Salvadorian ethnicity, was found shot and thrown from a moving vehicle on Westheimer Parkway in the Cinco Ranch subdivision of Katy, Texas. He was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. Pereira lived in an apartment complex in Cinco Ranch.
