Christopher Guerra, a 27-year-old male from Lubbock, Texas, tragically lost his life on November 5, 2021. He was found with a gunshot wound at an apartment complex in the 4600 block of 50th Street in central Lubbock. Guerra was transported to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The initial investigation revealed that there was a verbal altercation between Guerra and 20-year-old Ryan Menegay prior to the shooting.

Guerra's death was one of two deadly shootings that occurred in Lubbock on the same day. The other shooting, which took place in south Lubbock, resulted in the death of 54-year-old Chad Read. In Guerra's case, witnesses reported seeing Menegay armed with a rifle and following Guerra and a woman, identified as Guerra's ex-girlfriend, out of the apartment. Menegay allegedly tried to hit Guerra with the butt of his rifle before firing a shot that struck Guerra. Menegay remains in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center with a bond set at $350,000.
