The investigation into Hobbs' death led to the arrest of Rodaren Gerard Alexander on April 14, 2022.
Alexander was charged with Hobbs' murder, and the case number assigned to the investigation is 029057-2022. Dallas police initially sought two Black male suspects who fled the scene in a small, dark-colored sedan, possibly a Honda Civic. The motive behind the shooting was believed to be robbery, although it was unclear if anything was taken.
