Chadrick Good Jr., a 17-year-old African American male from Dallas, Texas, tragically died on July 23, 2021. He was a promising student and athlete, soon to be entering his senior year at Adamson High School and playing point guard for the Grand Prairie Blazers AAU team. His untimely death was the result of an accidental shooting.
On the night of his death, Chadrick was in the front passenger seat of an SUV when a 16-year-old suspect, who was in the back seat, accidentally discharged a
firearm. The bullet struck Chadrick, and despite being rushed to a hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue, he succumbed to his injuries. The 16-year-old suspect was charged with manslaughter in connection with Chadrick's death.
The incident occurred in the 300 block of South Storey Street in Oak Cliff, Dallas. The investigation revealed that the shooting was accidental, but it nonetheless resulted in the loss of a young life with a bright future ahead. The community mourned the loss of Chadrick, who was remembered as a great son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, and friend with a sweet spirit and contagious smile.
The case brought attention to the dangers of handling firearms, especially among young people, and highlighted the need for increased awareness and education on gun safety.
