On May 22, 2016, a violent tragedy unfolded in the North St. Louis neighborhood of the 4400 block of Elmbank Avenue. Firefighters rushed to a two-story residence early that Sunday morning after neighbors reported flames erupting from the first-floor windows around 4:40 a.m. Upon entering the burning home to extinguish the blaze, emergency responders discovered the bodies of three victims inside.
