Ricardo Guzman Jr., a 24-year-old man from Edinburg, Texas, tragically passed away on October 25, 2022. He was a loving husband to Desiree Monique Luna and a devoted father to three children: Ricardo Guzman III, Raiden Xavier Guzman, and Amaya Rosalie Guzman. Ricardo was also survived by his parents, Ricardo and Esmeralda Guzman, and his siblings: Fidel Abrego, Rosalva Guzman Puente, Frances Marie Guzman, and Angela Elaine Guzman.
On October 22, 2022, Ricardo Guzman Jr.
was fatally shot at his residence in rural Edinburg. Hidalgo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a welfare check call around 2:32 a.m. and found Ricardo lying on the driveway with gunshot wounds. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots from inside the residence before seeing Ricardo collapse outside. The investigation revealed that Alphie Howard Slough, a 39-year-old Edinburg resident, was responsible for the shooting. Slough initially fled the scene but later surrendered to authorities at a convenience store in San Juan. He was charged with murder and received a $1 million bond.
The case remains an active homicide investigation, with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office urging anyone with additional information to come forward. The community continues to mourn the loss of Ricardo Guzman Jr., a young man whose life was cut short far too soon.
