In the early hours of June 8, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred in rural Edinburg, Texas, resulting in the death of 50-year-old Agustin Anguiano Vega. At approximately 3:05 a.m., Hidalgo County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the 6700 block of Argentine Road. Upon arrival, they found Vega leaning against a black Chevrolet pickup truck, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
