On March 2, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Edinburg police responded to reports of gunshots at the Texas Inn and Suites City Center, located at 202 N. 25th Ave. Upon arrival, officers discovered 29-year-old Victor Gerardo Hernandez in the hotel parking lot, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
In the days following the incident, Edinburg police identified two local men, Fernando Amaya Orona and Hector Oliver Ramirez, as suspects in Hernandez's murder.
Authorities also sought a white 2020 Chevrolet Silverado with the license plate TGZ-0107, believed to be connected to the suspects.
As of December 27, 2024, there have been no public reports confirming the arrest of Orona or Ramirez. The Edinburg Police Department continues to seek information regarding their whereabouts.
