On the evening of September 3, 2024, at approximately 8:32 p.m., the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunfire in the 8200 block of East Curry Road, a rural area near Edinburg, Texas. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 67-year-old Jorge Luis Lopez lying face down in a driveway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Lopez was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
