Death by Force

David L. Friederichsen, a 29-year-old male police officer with the Chattanooga Police Department, tragically lost his life on June 18, 1978. Officer Friederichsen and his colleague, Officer Nelson Hess, were responding to a domestic disturbance call when the suspect opened fire on them just two minutes after their arrival. Both officers were struck by gunfire, and while Officer Hess was killed instantly, Officer Friederichsen succumbed to his injuries three days later at a local hospital.
