Jose Ochoa, a 17-year-old high school senior, was stabbed to death on Sunday, December 20, 2015, in the Petworth neighborhood of Northwest Washington, D.C. A student at Paul International High School, he had aspirations of being the first in his family to attend college and had reportedly been accepted to two schools. On the evening of his death, Ochoa's mother dropped him off on Georgia Avenue to meet his girlfriend.

Family members reported that personal items were stolen from him during the incident, including a silver chain, an iPhone 6, and his prized black Foamposite shoes.
