Bryant Tatum, a 20-year-old African-American male, was tragically killed on July 29, 1978, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tatum was a junior varsity basketball player at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and was known for his quiet demeanor and love for basketball. On the night of his death, Tatum and his white girlfriend, Nancy Hilton, were shot in a restaurant parking lot in Chattanooga. Tatum was fatally wounded, while Hilton, 18, survived the attack.
