Julie Rochelle Jacks, a 26-year-old female police officer of Chattanooga, Tennessee, tragically died on May 6, 2002. She was shot in the line of duty while attempting to apprehend a suspect who had fled from a hospital during a mental evaluation. Officer Jacks had served with the Chattanooga Police Department for just over three years and was named "Rookie of the Year" in 2001.
