In the early hours of a Tuesday in Knoxville, Tennessee, the life of a dedicated law enforcement officer was tragically cut short. On March 27, 1984, Detective James Kenneth Kennedy, a 29-year-old male serving with the Knox County Sheriff's Office, was killed in the line of duty. The fatal encounter unfolded at the Primeway Inn located at 9340 Park West Boulevard, where Kennedy and another detective were investigating a report of a stolen car and a domestic dispute.
