Rupert Holliday Peete Jr., a 45-year-old African American male, was a Deputy Sheriff with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office in Memphis, Tennessee. On March 8, 2000, Deputy Peete was tragically shot and killed while responding to a shots-fired call at a residence.
