On May 4, 2008, 21-year-old Cody Faircloth and 17-year-old James Liner Jr. were fatally shot while seated in Faircloth's vehicle outside an apartment complex in Southaven, Mississippi. A third individual sustained a gunshot wound to the chin and required surgical intervention.
