James Timothy Chapin, a 51-year-old white male, was a sergeant with the Chattanooga Police Department. On April 2, 2011, he was tragically killed while responding to a robbery at a pawn shop on Brainerd Road in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The incident occurred around 10:25 am when officers arrived at the scene and were immediately fired upon by the suspect from inside the store.
