Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Joseph Sullivan, aged 40, was killed on July 16, 2015, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and had served two tours of duty in Iraq. Sullivan was one of four Marines and one Sailor who lost their lives during an attack at the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Chattanooga. The incident was later classified as an act of domestic terrorism.
