On November 23, 2016, a violent event unfolded in Kansas City, Missouri, claiming the life of 20-year-old Greican Jane Davidson. The female victim was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound in the 5500 block of Forest Avenue. Following the shooting, she was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment, but she ultimately succumbed to her fatal injuries.
Greican was known to her friends and family as an exceptional artist who had a passion for collecting Air Jordan shoes. At the time of her passing, she was employed as a sales associate at Kids Footlocker. She left behind a grieving family, including her parents and several siblings, who recalled her as a kind-hearted soul who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as riding around the city and spending time with loved ones.
Over a year after the shooting, in late December 2017, law enforcement officials announced a significant development in the homicide investigation. Jackson County prosecutors issued arrest warrants for a suspect identified as Deric Canady. Authorities accused Canady of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action in connection with Greican's death. Following the charges, prosecutors requested a cash-only bond of $250,000 for the accused.
