A domestic argument in a Memphis, Tennessee, home on August 15, 2014, ended in a tragic loss of life. Six-year-old Lupita Gomez was a female who found her life cut short that Friday. The young girl, along with her 24-year-old brother Gustavo Gomez, became the victims of a violent outburst from their own father.
The events unfolded after 42-year-old Abel Gomez got into an argument with the children's mother. In the wake of the dispute, he turned a gun on his own children.
When police were called to the residence for a domestic disturbance, they were met with gunfire from Abel as they attempted to enter the home. This initial resistance foreshadowed the grim discovery they would make inside.
Once officers were able to make their way into the house, they found the bodies of Lupita and Gustavo. Their father, Abel, was also found inside, critically wounded. It was later determined that his injuries were from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Amidst the tragedy, one of Abel's children managed to escape the home unharmed, and the children's mother also survived the incident without physical injury.
