In the early morning hours of New Year's Day in 2015, a life was tragically cut short in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Eighteen-year-old Juan Boyd was found inside a vehicle in the parking lot of a Waffle House located on Brainerd Road. The young man had been fatally shot, marking a violent start to the new year in the city. The incident occurred around 3 a.m., a time when many were still celebrating the arrival of 2015.
