On a tragic day in Chattanooga, Tennessee, February 20, 2018, the life of 24-year-old Jamichael Eddins was cut short. A graduate of the Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts, Eddins was a member of the Olivet Baptist Church. His death was the result of a violent altercation that unfolded on Carousel Road.
The incident began with a heated argument that escalated horrifically. Christopher Turner, then 26, pulled out a firearm and shot Jamichael Eddins multiple times.
Another man, 28-year-old Randall Davenport, was also present and sustained a gunshot wound during the event. He was later treated at a hospital and released.
Following the shooting, Christopher Turner was identified as the suspect. He was subsequently arrested and faced several serious charges, including criminal homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and possession of a firearm. In an unusual turn of events, Turner initially claimed he had also been shot, but investigators determined his buttock wound was self-inflicted. He was taken into custody and held on a bond of $1,250,000.
In May of 2020, the legal proceedings against Turner came to a conclusion. He pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent felony. As a result of his plea, Christopher Turner was sentenced to a total of nine years in prison.
