The tragic sequence of events began when Johnson was driving her white Honda Accord through St. Louis. Witnesses reported that her vehicle was being pursued at high speeds by a newer model SUV, possibly a Jeep, containing four male occupants. The chase came to a catastrophic end at the intersection of Ohio Avenue and Caroline Street, where Johnson's vehicle crashed and overturned, leaving her trapped and vulnerable.
