On the evening of November 8, 2015, 34-year-old Sherita Monique Dickson was traveling through the streets of St. Louis, Missouri, when her life was abruptly taken in an act of violence. The female victim was a passenger in a vehicle driving northbound on North Grand Avenue. As the car approached the intersection with Natural Bridge Road in the chaotic late hours of the night, specifically around 8:15 p.m., the driver brought the vehicle to a halt at a red light.
While the car was stopped
at the intersection, an unknown assailant approached the vehicle. Reports indicate that a Black male suspect walked up to the car and fired shots into the vehicle without any apparent provocation or warning. The sudden gunfire struck both occupants of the car. Police and emergency responders were called to the scene in the 3700 block of North Grand, but despite their arrival, Sherita Monique Dickson had sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.
The male driver, described as being in his mid-30s, was also struck by the gunfire, suffering wounds to his arms and chest. He was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in serious condition but survived the attack. Homicide detectives from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation into the incident, searching for the gunman responsible for the ambush.
In the years following the tragedy, information regarding the perpetrator has remained scarce. The case was listed among the city's open homicides, with the suspect described only as an unknown Black male who fled the scene immediately after the shooting. There have been no reports of subsequent arrests, charges, or convictions connected to the murder of Sherita Monique Dickson, leaving the case unresolved as investigators continued to seek leads that might identify the person responsible for firing the fatal shots that night.
