In the summer of 2019, a domestic dispute in the Hi-Pointe neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, turned deadly, claiming the life of 43-year-old Kimberly Schneider. A Caucasian female, Schneider was at her home on West Park Avenue on the afternoon of July 19th when a heated argument with her boyfriend, 74-year-old Melvin Bodine, escalated with tragic consequences.
During the course of their verbal altercation, Bodine produced a firearm and shot Schneider in the head.
First responders arrived at the scene to find Schneider in critical condition. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries the following day. The case, initially investigated as a domestic assault, was reclassified as a homicide upon her passing.
Shortly after the shooting, Melvin Bodine turned himself into the authorities. He was taken into custody, and the weapon believed to have been used in the incident was recovered. Bodine was initially charged with assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. It was anticipated that these charges would be upgraded following Schneider's death. The community was left to mourn the loss of a woman whose life was cut short in a moment of domestic violence, a stark reminder of the potential for such disputes to end in tragedy.
