Charles Holsey, a 19-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on the evening of March 2, 2015, in what authorities described as a drug deal that turned violent. Holsey had arranged to sell marijuana to three other teenagers in the North Shore area of the city. During the transaction on Sylvan Street, a physical altercation erupted when the buyers attempted to rob Holsey of the drugs. In the ensuing struggle, Holsey was shot.
