Kahlil Keone Strickland, a 23-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on the evening of May 31, 2020, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A graduate of the Tyner High School class of 2017, Kahlil was an employee of Aerotek of Chattanooga and a father to his daughter, Peyton Chanel Moore.
On that Sunday night, at approximately 8:13 p.m., Chattanooga Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Sherman Street in East Chattanooga following a report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Kahlil suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported by Hamilton County EMS to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his wounds.
During the incident, another individual, a 24-year-old man, was also injured. He arrived at the hospital in a personal vehicle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau launched an investigation into the shooting.
Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact their homicide tip line or submit information through the CPD Mobile App, with the assurance of anonymity. However, to date, there is no publicly available information regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the death of Kahlil Strickland. The investigation into his death remains ongoing as his family continues to seek justice.
