In the quiet community of Lenoir City, Tennessee, the life of 27-year-old Corey Mitchell Brown was unexpectedly cut short on Thursday, December 24, 2015. A 2006 graduate of Lenoir City High School, Corey was remembered by friends and family as a special young man with a love for life and a deep affection for his dog, Chevy. He was known for his community service at the Habitat Home Store, where his joyful presence was a gift to those around him.
The tragic event unfolded on a Thursday morning when authorities received a call about a shooting at a residence on Clinchview Drive around 8:15 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Corey M. Brown deceased at the scene. He had sustained a single gunshot wound to the face. The investigation quickly led to a suspect who owned the home where the shooting occurred and where Brown also resided.
Within days, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office made an arrest in connection with the homicide. On December 30, 2015, Ronald Gregory Grizzle, then 47 years old, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. Grizzle was held without bond following his arrest. The case then moved to the legal system for trial, as the community and Corey's grieving family sought justice for his untimely death.
