On the final night of 2017, Gladys Barrera, a 45-year-old Hispanic female, was fatally shot in Trenton, New Jersey. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Brown Street as she and a male companion were returning from a church service. Barrera was pronounced dead at the scene, becoming the city's 24th homicide victim of the year.
