In the spring of 2016, a young life was violently cut short on the streets of Nashville, Tennessee. Rodrick Mason, a 23-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on the evening of March 26th. The incident unfolded in the 1600 block of 14th Avenue North, where witnesses reported a harrowing scene. Two men were seen chasing Mason, firing multiple shots at him as he fled.
Mason ultimately collapsed in front of a residence at 1617 14th Avenue North.
When law enforcement arrived, they found him suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. The loss was deeply felt by his family, including his young son, parents, and numerous siblings.
Investigators determined that the two male suspects fled the scene in a dark gray or green Nissan vehicle, distinguished by custom rims and tinted windows. Despite efforts by the Metro Nashville Police Department and Crime Stoppers to generate leads, the case has grown cold. To date, no arrests have been made, and the identities of the two men responsible for Rodrick Mason's death remain unknown. The Nashville Cold Case unit continues to seek information from the public in the hopes of one day bringing justice to his family.
